Winter’s first snow

by Aron on January 24, 2012

Whenever it snows, there is part of me that wants to stay in and order delivery; but the novelty of snow in the city still hasn’t worn off enough to allow this, and we often end up in the park. This weekend, on our way home from the Folk Art Museum on the Upper West Side, we decided to walk across Central Park just as the sun was getting close to setting. It was beautiful. We had been pushing Hudson in the stroller, but when he was ready for a nap, I carried him asleep in my coat while taking turns with Ashley pushing the stroller through the snow. (Nope, I wouldn’t recommend it.) We got a little carried away with instagram along the way; here are some favorites, drawn mainly from there.

Beautiful pictures. Love the skating rink & the two bridge pictures. Just so wintery and festive looking. I love it. What a great place to live.

I love snow. I also love my big country circular driveway lined with lilacs, roses and lily-of-the-valley in the warm months. The two together, however, I don’t love. Snow is so pretty until you have to shovel/plow it!!

Great pictures. Can’t wait to see pics of Hudson sledding in Central Park!

Love the many ways you used the instagram. So many options, so many fun choices! And really, is there any other way to see NY in winter than with a little blanket of snow covering it? If it has to be cold it might as well be pretty (just not too icy to walk!)

Thank you! The snow really is best viewed in the park as the street can get a little murky and grey, making me curse the winter; but a walk in the park always makes it seem more romantic.

Ahhh… I have had the pleasure of these sites in the spring and summer…I must return in the winter. Or maybe I should just move there!

That last picture is pure magic and makes me miss the city so, so, so much. I love snow and it’s been a few years since I’ve been in NYC when it was snowing. Personally, I love it. Thanks for sharing ~
