We did a terrible job taking photos on our brief trip out to California (except of course for ones of Hudson). So just a few scenes from the weekend…
Hudson’s decision to sleep before the flight meant we got to enjoy risotto and a glass of wine at JFK before the flight; and then he slept so well during the flight that we ordered a movie. It actually made for a very nice evening (in spite of a leaky-poop incident).

And he hung out with family, and made a new friend in Davis–while we met up with old ones.
The flight home was happy and sleep-filled (the cab ride home was another story, but I’m glad it wasn’t the reverse). One of these days we’ll actually unpack…
Have a great weekend!
P.S. We’re planning a fall road trip to the Berkshires and would be most grateful for suggestions you have to share. We will be staying in Lenox. Thanks in advance for any tips!

Looks like a lovely trip!
A few Berkshires restaurant suggestions for you:
Baba Louie's in Great Barrington & Pittsfield for great pizzas and salads; Rouge in West Stockbridge is a very funky French bistro, and; Route 7 in Great Barrington is a casual, locally-sourced BBQ place. Happy travels!
Enjoy the days of easy travel! Believe me, it changes so get it in while he's tiny
My flight home from Rome was deemed a "momathon" by my husband. I think it was one of the hardest days of my life!!
So adorable! Glad you guys had an easy first flight with him.
he is all kinds of adorable!! glad it was a good trip. and a terrible time taking pictures? that just mean you were too busy having fun!
Great photos! And I can't believe you'll be going to the Berkshires. So fun!
Gah, he's precious. He always looks so pensive! I wonder what he's thinking…
An aside: I love your bangs, Ashley. You look gorgeous! xo.
Wowie! Hudson definitely looks like a "boy!" Like a little man, not a little baby! So handsome. I like the furled eyebrows.
When are you going to be in Lenox? We're planning a trip there, too, so maybe we'll run into you! I think we are staying at the Birchwood Inn. There is tons to do in the area if you don't mind driving around all the little towns. Right in Lenox, I recommend checking to see if there are any performances at Tanglewood (the season might be closed, I'm not sure), The Mount (Edith Wharton's house), Shakespeare and Co., and the nearby Norman Rockwell Museum. And of course, keep your eye out for James Taylor (he lives in Lenox). Happy travels!
Hudson is SUCH an adorable guy. I can't believe how fast he seems to be growing up!
I've been a non-commenter until now, but I went to school at Williams College so the Berkshires are a beloved place! Make sure you go to Williamstown, it's a beautiful little town to just stroll around. Amazing pastries and coffee at Tunnel City Coffee on Spring Street (the only real street). If Hudson is sleeping and you are in the mood for a museum both the Williams College Art Museum and the Clark Art Museum are fantastic. The Clark especially. Pappa Charlie's on Spring Street is the classic lunch spot, all the sandwiches are named after celebrities who have performed in the Williamstown Theatre Festival. Enjoy, it's a wonderful part of the world!
love the name, Hudson. every time i read a post of yours including him I get so happy that i've found a boy's name that i like! (i like boy's names for girls so it's hard).
I am just so in love with Hudson's little face! His eyes are so bright and have such a look of curiosity in them! He's in for such an adventurous life with you guys as parents, what a blessed little boy!
He is beyond precious!
Sweet, sweet photos! You have a handsome little guy!
My husband's family lives in the Berkshires, and if you decide you need a little break from fall colors (although I'm not sure I would!) and want an indoor activity, you may want to go to Mass MOCA in North Adams. I always enjoy seeing the exhibits there…
what a cute lil nugget!
Thanks so much everyone. You're all so generous with your comments and make it so much fun to share.
Thank you for the trip suggestions (and glad to hear from you for the first time, Lucy). We're heading us around Columbus day weekend for 4 or 5 days.
The bangs are brand new! Thanks Nicole!
You will have a fabulous time in the Berkshires. We have a place in Columbia Cty on the NY side and our suggestions are: hiking in Lenox behind the Kripalu Ctr on the mountain (Olivia's Overlook), check out the gorgeous Wheatleigh Hotel – if you're up for a splurge, have dinner there; Rouge in W. Stockbridge has amazing casual French fare; Williamstown is fun and the Clark Museum is one of my favorites in the entire world. If the weather is sunny and clear, head to the top of Mount Greylock for breathtaking views.
that sounds like the luckiest flight with a baby. and a movie as well! really such an adorable little guy/
you look great Ash
glad you guys had a nice time
Hudson is amazingly cute! I love, love, love the second photo with his big eyes. We have a similar one of our little guy framed by our sofas and I find myself just staring into his fresh new baby eyes all the time!
And, Ashley, you look amazing! Motherhood seems to be treating you fantastically well.
Your Hudson is so sweet! I have a Hudson too, and he still travels that well at 4 years old.
We're New Yorkers with a place just over the border in Columbia County like jennypennynyc (hello neighbor!) – you should come up in October before the color is gone. Could go on and on with recommendations but here's some quick ones close to/in Lenox: Nudel for dinner, Pronto for dim sum, Hilltop Orchard for cider donuts, Local for jewelry, ceramics, etc., Tanglewood is closed but you can hit the Norman Rockwell Museum or take a drive up to North Adams to visit MassMoca and the unbelievable Sol LeWitt retrospective, and I concur the drive up to Mt. Greylock is spectacular. You can walk around with Hudson and have lunch in the lodge.
You all look great!!
Is Hudson wearing Polarn & Pyret clothes?? (I saw the "P" och the striped body). I didn't know they opened up stores in the US, nice! Very good quality and nice bacis stuff from Sweden
Here's a really nice website with only Swedish designers (for children)!
http://www.oiidesign.se/
Mini Rodini is my favourite!
It sounds like you had a nice, relaxing weekend which is amazing considering you were traveling with a little one!
so it sounds like everyone's probably already told you tanglewood. LOVE tanglewood. also, kripalu is this funky yoga center just across the way from tanglewood. definitely a crunchy vibe and beautiful location with a great view… stockbridge has some nice places– a norman rockwell feel to it- we stayed at the red lion inn once! such a sweet place with lots of clinking coffee cups on the main floor in the morning. its lovely.
my friend lives out there (in lenox) and is a big hiker. let me know if you want me to get the details on some hikes to take!
Thank you all so much for the great suggestions! I'm compiling them all and will be taking them along.
And yes, Asa–that's his Polarn onesie. We use the striped sunhat all the time. I picked these out online, but they're opening a shop in Tribeca! Thanks for the other site suggestions!
So happy you've decided to make the trip to the Berkshires! You will love it. Don't miss Mass Moca in North Adams.
