I recently came across this wonderful web site: Sheaff Ephemera. Dick Sheaff, a graphic designer, collects and scans all kinds of ephemera to share (“stamps, postal history, trade cards, billheads … cartes-de-visite, stereo views, tickets, engravings … early letterpress printing, typography, books … “).
This hand-drawn envelope is one of my favorite items I’ve spotted thus far, but there are so many interesting tidbits.
This diagram detailing the different cork impressions that could be used to cancel stamps being just one other among many…

Hi, found your blog via Design Sponge. Looks absolutely great! Me amd my boyfriend are going to NY in May so I will go through your blog very carefully in search for tips and ideas
Right now we are looking for a nice, and not too expensive hotel on Manhattan…. not an easy task… If you have any suggestions they are more than welcome!
Regards from Åsa in Sweden
Åsa–Thank you! And I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time! I'm afraid hotels in New York are something I know very little about… I can tell you some trusted sources, however, that could be of help: TimeOut and New York Magazine both have visitor guides and the Frugal Traveler in the NY Times just did a feature on visiting the city. I've also heard nice things about The Standard, the Ace Hotel, Larchmont Hotel, and the site "Homeaway"–but can't personally report on any of them. Wish I could be of more help!
Sheaff Ephemera is really a wonderful site. I found it several months ago myself.. and like you, wrote a blog about it. I check back on it often, and still find it full of fun and useful information.

Tremendous site. Thanks for the link.
That's a wonderful link, thank you!
Thanks a lot Ashley! The Standard looks amazing but is quite expensive…
Will check your others suggestions as well!
Åsa- Did you ever make it to New York? How was the trip?
