The Return of Turtlenecks (& Friday Links)

We’re not quite to sweater-weather here yet, but rumor has it that turtlenecks are back this year, which always used to make me think of this fantastic photo of—do you recognize her? Guess who. (Answer at bottom.) Now it’s a toss between the late Nora Ephon (who would wear the staple to hide her age… or at least her aging neck) and Diane Keaton (in Nancy Meyer’s Something’s Gotta Give).

What do you think of them? Cozy or constricting? Apparently, the fresher way to wear them is with wider neck like this (or this less expensive version). So if you’re somewhere that feels like fall, wear one for me this weekend and pick up a bouquet of cabbage roses.

What are your plans?

If you’re online, some items of note…

Is it so simple? One take on “gender neutral parenting.

What’s your ideal bedtime (based on when you need to wake up)?

7-minute makeup.

I didn’t realize the phrase “Netflix and chill” was so loaded. Makeout-on-the-couch banter.

The right way to store coffee (it’s not in your fridge)

How to roast a pumpkin

Looking more Halloween and Fall inspiration? I’ve been adding to my Pinterest boards.

Curb Your Enthusiasm fans will love these bitmojis

I’m excited about all the good movies coming out for fall. This one looks intriguing.

And currently reading (and loving) this for bookclub, so it was fun to see her beauty interview.

JCrew Fall Sale: 30% off coats and sweaters with the code LAYERUP. (Turtlenecks, anyone?)

I think I could watch Mary Norris, the #commaqueen, all day.

We went to Vegas last weekend and didn’t gamble once. (Will share some more photos next week.)

Vag cupcakes would be pretty funny at a baby shower? What would your grandmother say?

And finally, have you heard of Soko? The jewelry brand works with artisans in Kenya to create modern, ethical jewelry that is handmade from sustainable materials and has joined with Adam Braun’s Pencils of Promise to create a capsule jewelry collection that will help build schools in Ghana and other underdeveloped countries. 20% of every purchase from the campaign will be donated in support. #SokoxPoP
