Playing with patterns

Those who know me—or have seen our apartment—may have gathered that I’m not usually one to choose bright colorful patterns, instead preferring solid neutrals. And with such a small space, we’ve chosen primarily whites and creams and wood tones. It seems to make our apartment feel larger. (That and we really love all things woodsy.)

This doesn’t mean that I can’t appreciate others’ skills at bringing bright colors and patterns into their homes. In fact, I’m a bit in awe of anyone who can layer multiple patterns successfully! At the moment, I’m particularly drawn to these rooms, featured in this month’s Vogue; they belong to a textile designer and are to be found in a Brooklyn Heights Townhouse.
I’d like to think that if I had a townhouse with sky-high ceilings and huge windows to let in loads of light, I might try this out in at least one of the rooms.
Maybe…
What do you think?
