Signs of Summer at the Greenmarket

by Ashley on June 28, 2011

Sometimes it feels as if entire seasons can pass you by if you miss even a week at the Greenmarket. It’s such a barometer. We returned from Cape Cod and, in a flash, the market had exploded with color–edible and otherwise. Wasn’t it just the other day that we were welcoming asparagus? We’ve been going crazy for all the berries. Aron even brought some with him to a movie recently (and he loves popcorn). I think we both have a feeling that we should get them while the getting is good!

P.S. There’s a giveaway on Baby Mine, today! Be sure to stop by if you or someone close to you is expecting!

I love Ashley's photo of the scapes too–they look so much like writhing snakes!

Oh the greenmarket <3 my home away from home. The one place in New York City were I feel true peace. I love that place and if I dont go at least 2 times a week I feel like I am missing out on something. I havent been this week and i feel truly messed up! Must go and cook something asap. My dearest greenmarket in its fullest <3

All that fresh produce looks so good it makes me wonder why people eat processed foods at all. I hear Davis has a wonderful Farmer's Market so I'm definitely planning some trips out there.

We were just there on Saturday, too. We picked up some squash blossoms (fried them and stuffed them with ricotta!) and some of those great radishes, which we're still munching on today.

What beautiful markets! Our inner city markets don't look at half as appealing!

This is such a great post- I love all of the pictures. As a NYer living in Abu Dhabi, I really miss the markets! That is just not an option here in the same way as it exists in the US. Summer is the best!
