Icelandic horses

More magnificent horses

This weekend was crisp and cool; Sunday was sunny–perfect fall weather–but it was legitimately cold when the sun was hidden behind clouds and the wind would blow.

Seeing Brooke’s beautiful photos from her trip to Iceland makes me want to go somewhere even more legitimately wild and cold.

Gorgeous! I love horses. Iceland might be too cold for me but I love the thought of riding a horse there.

Oh, this is beautiful! My best friends went a couple summers ago and have pictures that look like the end of the world….

those horsies look chilly…but really pretty : ) My friend lived in Iceland for about a year and I can say that their chief exports are 1) moss 2) cute sweaters 3) beautiful photographs

This horse reminds me of Viggo Mortensen. Either way, both are stunning.

Iceland, like New Zealand, seem like other worlds to me. I would love to visit both. Someday….

Been there. And I keep wishing I still was there; the atmosphere, suddenly realising how small you really are, the wind roaring between mountains and over glaciers…And then you suddenly realise why the Icelandic horse is the way it is….they are very much like the people, clear-headed and stubborn, and oh so proud! I've had Icelandic horses for two years, and visiting their home country last August took me so much closer to them :)
And even if you don't like the horses; Iceland is certainly worth a visit!
