Some like it hot

by Ashley on September 3, 2010

Some Like It Hot, an old favorite, at Brooklyn Bridge Park last night.
It was 84 degrees at 9 p.m.–hot indeed!
Aron has been in Chicago all week and flies home today. I’m looking forward to a long weekend together. Any fun plans? Enjoy!

For such a massive city, New York certainly is cozy, isn't it? Hope you guys have a wonderful weekend together! My mother is flying in to Sweden from Philly tomorrow and is staying for a whole month. Can't wait for some good mother/daughter bonding!

Surprisingly so! The parks plan so many nice things in the summer.

Have fun with your mom! What will you take her to do first?

Mu husband and I own a farm in upstate NY, and we show a movie on the side of our barn every year. We make homemade ice cream sandwiches and popcorn and everyone lies on blankets in the fields and lawns around the barn. All the glowbugs add the the ambiance. so magical. We just had this year's party, I'll be posting pictures soon. If you're ever upstate, stop in!

84 degrees at night? Ouch! I have no plans except to rehearse. Even on Monday we are rehearsing. Sigh.

I've heard it's quite hot in Sac, too–hope the rehearsal space is well a/c'd. We're expecting a cool-down here, when Earl passes by.

Deanna–that sounds amazing!! What a wonderful tradition! I can't wait to see photos.

Outdoor movies are the best. It would be hard for me to focus on Marilyn with the beautiful distraction of the Manhattan skyline.

why yes! since there isn't much of a Labor Day here in the Bahamas, I am making my own. Starting off by going on an open water snorkel after work. It is still boob sweat hot here too… trying to scathe hurricanes in the meantime :)

Sounds awesome, Lea (not the hurricanes or sweat, but snorkeling sounds heavenly).

It was sort of distracting–but I noticed so many things that I missed as a kid. More dirty jokes, and I never understood the prohibition references. (I just thought that the ladies weren't supposed to drink!)

You guys always make me want to move to the city… one day, one day….

Hope you guys don't get too much rain from the storm, but maybe it could inspire an impromptu hurricane party – lamps and all.

Cheers!

Oh ma gosh! Some like it hot is an absolute favourite! Lucky you to see it like that. Outdoor movies are such a wonderful summer thing. Sadly, it's decided to be autumn already in Minneapolis so I'll be snuggling up in a sweater!

that looks like so much fun! i've always wanted to do something like that…watch an outdoor movie in a park with tons of other people around – just seems like fun. i came close this past weekend in Ottawa where i was one of many who watched a light show at night played agains the Parliament building. it was only 30 minutes but so awesome.
