Sink or swim

by Aron on July 23, 2010

I spotted this beautiful painting on ill Seen, ill Said; it’s part of a larger collection of swimming scenes by Vicki Smith, on view at Bau-Xi in Toronto. But I’m especially struck by this one, where the tension between floating and sinking seems most evident.
The water looks so cool and clear. How deep does it go?
It’s been sticky and gross as of late. I’m thinking that the swimming pool at the gym might actually help me remember how to get there. At the very least, this weekend holds the promise of a day at the beach with friends. And I think we may be celebrating water with a picnic at Governor’s Island, along with the vendors for this season’s New Amsterdam market.
Have a great weekend!

I love this! I haven't been swimming in a while. You can easily forget how important it is to keep up that sort of relationship with water. Have a great weekend!
