I wish the season of strawberries and sweet peas were never-ending. As that can’t be, I plan to indulge as much as possible in these remaining weeks.
Other plans? We recently made arrangements to fly to Germany to visit with family in Ludwigsburg! We’ll be celebrating Aron’s parents’ 40th wedding anniversary (who were married the same year as mine), and checking in on our nephews–who no doubt will be excited to show us their new rooms in their new house–this September.
After the visit, Aron and I will leave from Munich and fly to Sardinia for a few days on the beach. Has anyone been to the island? We’re flying into Cagliari and are more interested in the Southern half (as opposed to traveling up to the Costa Smerelda), as we’re only there for a couple of days. Any suggestions? We’d welcome your tips!

I don't know how I managed to avoid peas at the farmers' market until this year, but I did. Now that I've discovered them, I never want them to go out of season!
Mmm, they both look so good! A really big bowl of strawberries sounds really good right now, I never share so, yes, I'd eat the whole thing!
Strawberries are pure bliss!! Lovely photos and your trip sounds exciting! xo
Love strawberries as well, especially with ice cream topping~YUM*

I could honestly eat those two things solely for the rest of my life <3
Fabulous pictures!
Oh Germany! How fun! I have always wanted to go but the language intimidates me. I can't wait to see those pictures!
A trip?
Come to visit us! We are in Palma de Mallorca.
Hugs,

I know what you mean, I'm obsessed with strawberries and rhubarb during the summer and it's pretty much what I live off. I'm also headed to Germany this summer! Hope you guys have a great time!
Sounds like an amazing trip!

Hi there, I've only recently found you and it's been an absolute pleasure to hang out with you and discover NYC. While I've been all over Italy including Sicily and the Lipari Islands, I haven't been to Sardinia (though on my wish list). The NY Times(Travel) did an interesting article on Sardinia in the Spring. Specifically a place called Sant 'Antico which sounded quite lovely to me. You might want to check out the NY Times website for more info. Have a great holiday !
(So sorry about the long comment)
Thanks, everyone! Lea–I definitely need to include those cherries in heavy rotation. Thanks for reminding me.
No need to apologize, Wild Thyme! Thank you so much for the tip–I'll do a search for the article now!
Where are you headed, Vanessa?
That's so funny Dancing Branflake–too many WWII movies?
We're at my sister-in-law's home for 1/2 a week and in Sardinia for the second half… far too short a time overall, eh?
Ooops, spelling mistake…Sant 'Antioco.
I'm so impressed that you two manage to capitalize on your time off! I'm in a residency marriage as well and it's always a struggle to find the time for travel…. you are definitely an inspiration, enjoy the trip planning!
Hi Ashley! Sardinia is really really beautiful! I have been to the Northern part but unfortunately not to the Southern part… you know what? I'll make this week's Gypsy*Friday about Sardinia just for you!
My boyfriend's family has a house there, I'll try to investigate what is there to do!

Thank you, Erin–I have to give Aron a ton of credit for putting up with more than his share of sleep deprivation so that we can be together when he has time off. He really pushes himself. But it does help to plan in advance when you can. How many more years of residency?
Thank you, Gabby! That sounds awesome–so nice of you!
Oh the trip sounds so lovely!! Munich is fantastic. I've never been to Sardinia but Keiko from Nordljus (http://www.nordljus.co.uk/) just returned from the island. Perhaps she has some suggestions? Her posts and recommendations are so great. Happy Travels!
I asked my chico Italiano what to do in/around cagliari and this is what he said:
Restaurant:
1) romantic dinner – ristorante LO SCOGLIO (fish right on the sea)
2) topical: ristorante SACCARDIGA e SUSCHIRONI (MUST go!)
3) classy but very good! Ristorante "il corsaro"
Have a great trip! My Sardinia post is up on Gypsy*Diaries soon!
