Partial to Brunettes

by Ashley on March 11, 2010

There’s plenty to like about Le Pain Quotidien–that lovely chain of French bakeries with communal tables–but one of the best parts (and most dangerous) is that there are jars of hazelnut spread placed on the table alongside jams, all for you to take from at will.
But will must be steeled: the Brunette spread–which is like Nutella without the chocolate–is amazing. I usually order oatmeal for breakfast and then try to talk Aron into getting something that will come with an extra slice of toast (or just spoon some onto a saucer when I think no one is looking).
Seek it out. Or don’t–maybe it’s too good.

Sounds like it may be made like almond butter, but using hazelnuts. Sounds delicious!

It's definitely in the nut butter family and yet not exactly a nut butter–it's much more dessert-like. You know how Aron likes to mix peanut butter with honey and powdered milk? Imagine that with hazelnut butter. Nutella without the cocoa (because it keeps the sweetness) is really the most accurate description I can come up with.

Hmmm would like to compare it side by side with nutella!
