Great blog, recently got seriously hooked and read all the past post. Is your bed, seen in the small spaces post, from Ikea (the "malm" line)?

Oh, and happy V-day right back at you

Wow–thanks, Oscar! What a nice thing to say! How'd you find us?

That's the bed. We tried to keep ourselves from Ikea, for fear that we'd buy everything there, but it's so hard! We are really happy with it. We even avoided adding the side tables for about a year before giving in (and then wondering why we hesitated).

I can´t really remember exactly how I found your blog but it was as I´ve been planning and googling for my up-coming New York trip (I live in Finland so it´s kind of a big thing needing a lot of planning).

The bed is the same one I have and both my wife and I find it really great. We actually just removed the sidetables. Turns out they are´nt so great when your 10 month old son starts every morning by trying to climb them.

The trick with Ikea is to balance it. We buy the larger items like a bed or a dresser there and combines it with unique, quality items, like lamps and decor items. Check out this lamp, a classic here in Finland and can be found in our living room.

When are you visiting New York? I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time. Let us know if you need any other suggestions! Crossed fingers for beautiful weather.

I can see why you would remove the side tables–definitely not stable enough for a 10-month-old (and I could see why he would be tempted to climb them)!

Great lamp–you're definitely right about the balance…
